New breed of superheroes in Russion action movie “GUARDIANS”

NEW BREED OF SUPERHEROES IN RUSSIAN ACTION MOVIE “GUARDIANS”

In the end of 1945, after Germany and Japan have fallen in the WWII, an incredible team of mutant superheroes rise to stop the world’s smartest and deadliest villain in the latest badass non-stop blockbuster Russian action movie “Guardians” aka Zaschitniki.

“Guardians” are borne from the genetic experiments performed by Nazi doctors who were trying to create a super soldier. The German doctors carried on with their experiments to the territories Germany occupied during the war – France, UK, Spain, Poland and USSR. Meanwhile United States intelligence reported that there are definitely traces of superhumans in the States. Dictator Stalin has no choice but to create “Patriot” – a super secret defence and research organization, so secret and dear to him that he has his right hand – Lavrenty Beria – helming it.

Time went on and “Patriot” proved to be non-viable economically hence Beria’s recommendations to shut the whole thing down. But Stalin was not the one who was giving up that easily. However he did not live long enough to see the first results. Spring of 1953 he dies after a long lasting illness. Nikita Khruschev, a simple man of simple ideas, takes charge and it was only natural for him to shut down “Patriot”, which he would’ve done if the news from the Moscow lab wouldn’t have saved the whole program.

Professor Dobronravov was able to complete several successful experiments which resulted in creation of Khan (played by Sanzhar Madiyev) whose main weapon are his blades and who has superhuman strength and moves fast enough to make it appear that he is teleporting; Ler, aka Rockneto is played by Sebastien Sisak, who manipulates rocks to make him levitate; Arsus (Anton Pampushnyy), whose power is to transform into a half-man, half-bear and Ksenia (Alina Lanina) who has the ability to manipulate water and can even become invisible. For years, the heroes had to hide their identities, but in hard times they must show themselves again."

“Guardians” opens in cinemas on March 8 from Purple Media to be released by Axinite Digicinema.

Breakfast with Love Down Under (I choose to love in silence....)

I choose to love you in silence...
For in silence I find no rejection....

You probably already know who Love Down Under is if you're my friend on Facebook. I posted a photo of us together after we had breakfast one Sunday morning near my place when I was in Melbourne, Australia last August 2016.

He picked me up at my hotel at around 9:30 AM to have breakfast together. He's really a very fine young gentleman.

That's him below. We passed by a convenience store to buy Red Bull. I guess it's because he had work the day before and he was still feeling tired. But since it was my last weekend in Melbourne, he still made it a point to see me.

It meant a lot to me. That morning meant a lot to me. He means a lot to me.

I choose to love you in loneliness...
For in loneliness no one owns you but me...

I love him so dearly but I choose to love him in silence. I don't wanna let him know that I love him. That I'm in love with him. Because he's my friend and I want it to remain that way. I just want us to be friends forever. I've known him for quite some time now...probably for more than 5 years already.

I choose to adore you from a distance...
For distance will shield me from pain....

He paid for my breakfast. I had a latte and some pancakes and he had an espresso and a bowl of yogurt. I love the heart design on my coffee. It was so perfect for that moment. My moment with him.

Apparently, taking photos while dining is not something that's popular in Melbourne unlike here in the Philippines. I felt so shy to ask him if we could have a photo together while we were having breakfast. But, nonetheless, the memory of that fine Sunday morning still lives in my heart until now.

I choose to kiss you in the wind...
For the wind is gentler than my lips....

I love how intimate the setting was even thought the place was actually very busy and noisy that Sunday morning. Probably it's because it's among the very few restaurants that were open in that area on that day.

That's Love Down Under's hand by the way. Teehee!

He got worried when he saw the reaction on my face when I saw the pancakes that were given to me. It wasn't the kinda pancakes that I was expecting. It tasted good alright, but, it wasn't my cup of tea. This was a little too much for me.

Or maybe it's because that moment with him was a little too much for me that I barely touched my pancakes. I offered him to get half of it but he refused.

I choose to hold you in my dreams...
For in my dreams, you have no end....

He was silent most of the time. I guess it's because we were still both feeling a little shy at each other. I tried to break that silence by asking him about our common friends, his life back in his home country, why he moved to Melbourne and what he planned to do next.

He talked about his life in Melbourne and how he was enjoying every bit of it.

He asked me as well if I wanted to live and work in Melbourne. It never occurred to me ever to live and work abroad. But, during that time, I was so determined to give it a try already. I wanted to live in Melbourne. I wanted to be close to him. But, deep inside, it's as if there was something that's telling me that it was wrong. It felt kinda wrong.

Love Down Under had a girlfriend at that time. I dunno why but I always (as in always) fall for a guy who already has a girlfriend.

Soon after, we had to part ways. His girlfriend was coming over at his place and I had to go to work as well. I was in Melbourne only for a project and it was to end that week as well.

He offered to walk with me going to work since my office was just down the road. I declined and told him that I'd be ok. He smiled. And then I asked him if we could just have a photo together. And so we did. Outside the restaurant in front of the train station.

I will never forget that moment. That's one of my happiest moments ever.

It had been months already since that morning that I met up with him but it's only now that I'm finally writing about it. I initially didn't wanna talk about this but I just had to let something out.

Love Down Under broke up with his girlfriend late last year but earlier this year he again had a new one. He was supposed to visit me here in Manila last December. That's what he told me when we had breakfast last August. He was planning a trip to Thailand before 2016 would end and then he would head here. But, that didn't happen anymore. He went to Thailand, alright, but he didn't get to go here anymore. I'm not sure if it's because he met a new girl. I wouldn't know and I wouldn't wanna know.

Sometimes, we would talk online and then out of nowhere, he would snap a photo of him with his new girlfriend. I would pretend to laugh and tell him how funny the photo was. But what he didn't know that as I was holding my phone and looking at his photo, I was already crying so hard. One time, I was in the office and I had no choice but to go to CR and weep. Haha! Silly me.

I cried really hard.

And then tonight, he sent me a message again telling me that he and his girlfriend are planning to go here soon to visit me. He said his "princess" is excited to meet me. He calls his girlfriend "his princess." I guess he had been saying some stuff about me to his girlfriend. Good stuff I suppose. LOLZ!

And then he told me that they'd find me an amazing guy.

And then I cried again. Haha! I'm actually crying right now as I'm writing this while I'm listening to Jona's version of "I'll Never Love This Way Again." I'm crying so hard that I started this entry at around 7 PM and it's now 9:30 PM and I'm not even done yet. LOLZ!

I'm actually excited to see him again. Yes. I'm ok with meeting his girlfriend. I guess we can be friends. Me and his girlfriend. I also know where to place myself. Love Down Under doesn't know that I'm in love with him so I also don't wanna be unfair to him.

I wanted to tell him that I don't need an amazing guy. I already have one. I already have one amazing guy in my life.

I wanted to tell him that he's that amazing guy.

I'm ok with the kinda friendship that we have. I don't want to freak him out. I don't want him to ignore me. I don't want him to leave me. I'm ok with being friends with him forever.

I'm sorry. I should end this now. I can't take it anymore. Haha! I'm sorry.

I love you, Love Down Under.

I love you. So much.

Even if it hurts.

VinVin...this blonde guy...and the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France....

I was in Europe last year for my birthday thanks a big bunch to my mother dearest. Teehee!

One of the countries that we visited was France. And, of course, when you're in France it's a staple that you should also go to Paris!

We tried out Bateaux Mouches which is like a cruise along the Seine River that gives visitors an outstanding view of the city of Paris. Truly lovely experience indeed. I think the whole cruise took like almost 2 hours or more because the excursion boat that we had, upon reaching the other end, also turned around so it's really amazing to see all those old buildings and magnificent structures all over Paris. On a river.

I would love to go back to Paris again someday. Someday. With the guy I love.

The boat wasn't that crowded which was good but there were a lot of tourists like us as well. It's probably one of my most unforgettable moments in Europe. Being on that boat. Being on that cruise.

And seeing this blonde guy over here!

Imagine that! Who knew I would be able to spot a cutie while on a river cruise! LOLZ!

I'm not exactly sure but I believe he was with his girlfriend at that time.
I got attracted by his hair and his broad shoulders. He's blonde. I love blonde guys. Love Down Under is blonde.
I'm not exactly a fan of guys with tattoos but I can make an exception here.
He's so hot.
He's just...so...hot....
And then he turned around.
I'm not sure if he saw me taking photos of him, though. LOLZ!
Maybe he didn't because he looked back to the river again.
I didn't get to see him with his shades off unfortunately.
But I'm good with this.
Guys with broad shoulders and backs. Makes me feel so safe.
My chubby cheeks. LOLZ!
I told you I'm not into taking selfies. It was just a matter of life and death at that time so I had to take a selfie with this blonde guy...errr....the Eiffel Tower rather. Teehee! CHOZ!
It was so surreal. Seeing the Eiffel Tower in person. Finally. And this blonde guy, too. LOLZ!
I knew at that time that I'd probably never get to see him again (which is inevitably true, of course) so I had to capture the moment. That moment.
Ermmmm...can you look over here, please? Please?
OMG!!! He did!!! Or didn't he? Teehee!
Mr. Blonde Guy, I promise, the next time you see me...I'll be a different person. CHOZ!

I love my pink scarf by the way. Teehee!

I'll try to blog more about my adventures in Europe soon. OMG. Am I turning into a travel blogger now? LOLZ!

Anyway, in case you know who this blonde guy is...please tell me his name....

Or introduce him to me. Just taking my chances here. CHOZ!

Thank you!!!

“LOGAN” midnight screenings set on March 1, Wednesday (12:01 AM) nationwide

“LOGAN” MIDNIGHT SCREENINGS SET ON MARCH 1, WEDNESDAY (12:01 AM) NATIONWIDE

Responding to the fever-pitch anticipation of Hugh Jackman’s “Logan”, the most eager of cineastes who want to see it first can finally catch the movie on its midnight screenings (12:01am) set on March 1, Wednesday in Philippine theatres nationwide (check your nearest favorite theatres).

Starring Hugh Jackman in the title role, “Logan” is directed by James Mangold that also stars a powerhouse of a cast that includes Patrick Stewart, Boy Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, Richard E. Grant and newcomer Dafne Keen. A standalone story that sees Jackman in the final chapter of his Wolverine alter-ego, the movie brings the iconic hero at a crossroads that will finally define his destiny.

The film takes place more than 50 years after the events depicted in “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and is its own standalone tale that plays more like an intimate family journey but is also packed with high-stakes action scenes. When the film opens, Logan is in a vulnerable and broken state, the curse of his immortality wearing heavy on him as he cares for a weakened Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) in a derelict smelting plant at the edge of an abandoned oil field. They’re joined there by a third mutant, Caliban (The Office co-creator Stephen Merchant), sheltering in obscurity at a time when the world believes mutants have passed into history.

But Logan’s days of drinking in relative solitude are interrupted when he finds himself the reluctant guardian of a young girl, Laura (Keen) who has powers remarkably like his own, from her hands as well as her feet spring the same adamantium claws as Wolverine’s. Not that he’s exactly eager to accept this newfound responsibility—he’s far too weary to play the hero once more.

Tasked with protecting her from the murderous cybernetic criminal Donald Pierce (Holbrook), Logan and Professor X set out to cross hostile territory to ferry Laura to a place called Eden, where young mutants are said to enjoy safe haven. But Pierce and his fearsome army of cyborg Reavers are determined to return the girl to the custody of Dr. Zander Rice (Grant), the sinister geneticist behind Alkali who triggered her mutations through a series of inhumane experiments in the hopes of creating a child super-soldier.

“Logan” further unleashes its claws a few hours after its midnight screenings (with more screens) on March 1 in cinemas nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros. Also available in IMAX (2D) screens. The movie is rated R-16 by the MTRCB.

My road to fitness with ACE personal trainer Coach Dominic Samoisette (Coach Domi)

I actually dunno how to pronounce his last name. I haven't asked him how. I haven't thought of asking him how. It's only now that I realized that. But, well, your guess is probably as good as mine.

That's me (I'm not so much into posting photos of myself here on my blog so consider this as something rare and special) with my fitness coach, Coach Dominic Samoisette (or Coach Domi in short).

And, yes, believe it or not...I'm now trying to lose weight! I'm turning 30 this year and these past years I believe I've really gained so much weight from too much stress from work and heartbreaks from dating all those models and celebrities.

CHARAUGHT! LOLZ!

So, yeah, it's about time I bring back the old me. The old 20-year-old me, but a healthier and fitter version of me. Balik Alindog Program 2017 it is!

I had a consultation with my doctor November last year and she told me that my health was deteriorating. LOLZ! I have this. I have that. And I don't wanna talk about those sicknesses that she mentioned anymore. She said that I'd be lucky enough if I'm still alive by 40. And I was like...ok....

CHOZ!

It's as if she told me that I was close to dying a decade from now. So, fine, I had to something about this. I mean...I don't wanna die just yet. Not until I get to have a boyfriend. You all know that I've never had a boyfriend. Ever. No boyfriend since birth. LOLZ! And I'm still hoping to see someone again....

And so as I was browsing my social media accounts one time, I came across Coach Domi's post saying that he just had his business cards printed out. I read it and it says that he's an ACE (American Standard on Exercise) certified personal trainer. It had been a while since I had a personal trainer. The last time was when I was still a member of Fitness First Platinum. My trainer was ok but it stopped at that. At just being ok.

Deep inside I felt a little afraid to contact Coach Domi. I was afraid that he might not take me seriously. I was afraid to make a commitment on this. I was afraid of men. That's also one reason why I didn't renew my Fitness First contract anymore. I felt uncomfortable with how some of the guys there looked at me. It's as if I was gonna do something bad to them. Whenever I would take a shower or go to the sauna, I always had this uncomfortable feeling deep inside and I'm the kinda person who always trusts her gut feel. More often than not, it's always correct.

But, I just kept in mind that my goal was to lose weight and to be a better version of me. Come what may. And so I decided to take the chance and I contacted Coach Domi. I asked him a few questions and good thing that he was very kind and accommodating in responding. I felt so pleased and relieved. I wanted to ask him if it was ok for him to train an openly gay individual like myself but I didn't bother anymore. I realized that my profile photo was shouting an all caps "GAY" all over it so...yeah....no need. LOLZ!

We didn't start right away. I think I waited for over a week before we started. I tried to delay it as much as possible. LOLZ! (Sorry, Coach Domi!) Because deep inside I was still a little afraid. But I knew I had to do this and I knew that I needed to do something right with my life and that this was it. I just had to take a leap of faith and trust a complete stranger to help me achieve such goals.

And, lo and behold, this total stranger didn't just become a very effective fitness coach/trainer to me, he also became a very good friend whom I could trust wholeheartedly knowing that he wouldn't judge me. During our first week, what he first told me struck me the most. He said, "I'm not here to judge you. I'm here to help you achieve your goals and with your help I know we can achieve it."

I could go on and on in mentioning the many life-changing things that Coach Domi has been teaching me but it will just all boil down to one thing....

Coach Domi changed my life during the first month that he became my fitness trainer. And with that, I'll always be grateful to him.

And did I also say that he's really very good looking? Teehee! That's because he's also a model. Just look at him.

My friend saw a photo of him and she was like, "VinVin, I know you're in good hands because your trainer looks like Jesus Christ. God Bless you." "Amen," I said. (The photo above is for an ad campaign that he did for Spyder.)
And this is Coach Domi pushing a chair. LOLZ!

I started on my program with Coach Domi on January 12th this year. I'm not gonna go into detail on the things that we did and that he made me do (don't worry, there's nothing Fifty Shades there LOLZ!) because those are his intellectual property as a trainer. But, no joke, it wasn't easy at all. It was really difficult for my standards (knowing me, the all demure, prim and proper me) since I hadn't been doing any physical activity at all until I met him.

What I also appreciated about him was that he's also constantly helping me with my diet and my meals. He wants me to send him photos of the things that I eat everyday. And he wants me to eat broccoli. Like...elk....I don't eat broccoli at all. But now I do. He's the only person who has successfully made me eat vegetables.

Though, sometimes when I'm at Starbucks, I no longer inform him about it. Teehee! CHOZ! Well, he said I could reward myself from time to time.

From time to time. *insert evil laugh here*

A month later, I've already experienced a few changes in me. I actually need to lose over 40 kg and Coach Domi suggested that I could actually lose 1 kg per week with proper diet and exercise. I initially signed up for 12 sessions with him so that's like for 4 weeks already. I started at close to 113 kg pre-January 12th. And then it went down to 111.7 kg after 1.5 weeks. And then to 110 kg on my second week. And then....

108.1 kg on my 3rd week....
And then 107.3 kg on my 4th week.

I still have a long way to go. I know. But I'm getting there. I know it.

But what really validates this is what my friends have been noticing about me lately as well.

"VinVin! Pumapayat ka na!"

Teehee! Music to my ears!

But, like I said, I still have a long way to go and I'm not gonna stop here. I've promised myself that I'm gonna make this a habit, a good one at that, as long as I live. I'm gonna make "Love Down Under" proud of me so that when he gets to visit me here in Manila from Melbourne, he'll also be able to appreciate my achievements. (I miss you so much.) But, more importantly, I'm doing this for myself.

So, to you Coach Domi, thank you. ♥♥♥

Right now, we just do our training outdoors. Most of the time we're at a park in Makati where it's breezy and there are trees. Just like in the photo above. I do hope our country can have more of these parks.

At first I was a little hesitant to work out outdoors. I was shy. I knew some people would make fun of me. But I've learned to just brush those all off. My goal right now is to lose weight, be healthy, and be a better, newer version of me through Coach Domi's help.

So if you also have the same goals as I do, and if you need a qualified trainer to achieve these goals, why not drop Coach Domi an email?

Contact him at samoisette.dominic@gmail.com.

I highly recommend him.

I will all keep you posted on my progress in the coming weeks. And don't worry, I'll also be featuring Coach Domi here on my blog from time to time not as a trainer but as a model. Teehee!

A riveting true story of a woman's struggle in and out of madness in “BRAIN ON FIRE”

A RIVETING TRUE STORY OF A WOMAN’S STRUGGLE IN AND OUT OF MADNESS IN “BRAIN ON FIRE”

“Brain on Fire” is the astonishing true story of a young woman’s descent into madness in the face of a medical mystery starring Chloe Grace Moretz, Thomas Mann, Carrie-Anne Moss, Richard Armitage, Jenny Slate and Tyler Perry.

Based on the award-winning memoir and a New York Times bestseller, “Brain of Fire” is directed by Gerard Barrett and trails the challenges of Susannah Cahalan (Moretz), a young woman just out of university and living her dreams in New York City. She’s an up-and-coming journalist at the New York Post, and she’s falling in love with a musician named Stephen. When her boss gives her the big assignment that will jumpstart her career, things couldn’t be better.

Soon little things start going wrong. Susannah gets a flu she can’t shake, she forgets things, and she misses deadlines at work. She can hear people talking about her, she’s sure that Stephen has another girlfriend, and she can’t control her body. It soon gets worse; Susannah begins having violent seizures, and her increasingly psychotic behaviour means she must be watched at all times.

After repeated trips to the hospital, a team of doctors can find nothing wrong with her. As Susannah is admitted and spends days, then weeks, in a hospital bed losing her ability to move, talk, even eat, her family is repeatedly told that she is one hundred percent healthy. Her mom Rhona and her dad Tom are at a breaking point, waiting for their daughter to die while being told there is nothing anyone can do to help her.

With Susannah trapped in a body that continues to deteriorate, her family keeps hoping for someone, anyone, that can solve the mystery. Only when they finally find a doctor determined and curious enough to see her case through can Susannah begin to recover from her bizarre illness and try to get back to the vibrant young woman she was.

Witness an inspiring miracle when “Brain on Fire” opens February 22 in cinemas from Pioneer Films.

Hugh Jackman one last time as The Wolverine in “LOGAN” - March 1 in Philippine cinemas

HUGH JACKMAN ONE LAST TIME AS THE WOLVERINE IN “LOGAN” - MARCH 1 IN PHILIPPINE CINEMAS

Academy Award-nominated, Golden Globe- and Tony Award-winning performer Hugh Jackman first brought his electrifying energy to the mutant known as Wolverine way back in 2000 in the film that launched the modern-day comic-book blockbuster, director Bryan Singer’s original X-Men. Since then, the acclaimed Australian actor has slipped into the skin of the world’s most famous mutant a record 10 times on the big screen. But this time, with “Logan”, Jackman had the chance to craft something truly special laying to rest his longtime screen alter ego.

Highly-regarded filmmaker James Mangold helms the defining chapter in the cinematic saga of one of the greatest comic book heroes ever created in “Logan” where Jackman stars alongside Patrick Stewart (“X-Men: Days of Future Past”), Stephen Merchant, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant and newcomer Dafne Keen. “Logan” sees Hugh Jackman reprise his iconic role as The Wolverine for one, final time in a raw, powerfully dramatic standalone story of sacrifice and redemption.

“Logan” is set at the backdrop of 2029 where mutants are gone—or very nearly so. An isolated, despondent Logan is drinking his days away in a hideout on a remote stretch of the Mexican border, picking up petty cash as a driver for hire. His companions in exile are the outcast Caliban and an ailing Professor X, whose singular mind is plagued by worsening seizures. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy abruptly end when a mysterious woman appears with an urgent request—that Logan shepherd an extraordinary young girl to safety. Soon, the claws come out as Logan must face off against dark forces and a villain from his own past on a live-or-die mission, one that will set the time-worn warrior on a path toward fulfilling his destiny.

From the outset, Jackson’s always had a gift for locating Logan’s humanity beneath his gruff, deeply scarred exterior. But with this nuanced, deeply moving performance, the actor brings the character full circle—the cigar-chomping, hard-charging loner is now a steadfastly loyal comrade-in-arms willing to sacrifice everything for what he believes.

“We wanted something that would feel very different, very fresh and ultimately something very human,” Jackson says, “because it seems to me that the strength of X-Men and the strength of Wolverine is more his humanity than his superpower. In exploring this character for the last time, I wanted to get to the heart of who that human was, more than what his claws can do.”

“There was a moment that I came to terms with the fact that this was my last one,” Jackman says. “I love this character, and he’s been amazing to me. I’d be lying if I said that I would have been okay if I didn’t feel everything was left on the table. And I mean everything. Every day, every scene was a kind of battle to get the best out of that character, to get the best out of me.” Concludes Jackman: “There was an element of life and death about it—I know that sounds dramatic, but that’s how it felt.”

Claws out on the must-see motion picture event of the year on March 1 when “Logan” finally bows in Philippine cinemas nationwide, from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Help Vince Azzopardi raise £2,000 to rescue his two disabled puppies from Dubai

I've known Vince for almost a decade now so you may trust me on this one. He was in Dubai for quite some time for his work and I think a few months ago he had to go back to England again. The sad part there is that he had to leave behind the two puppies he rescued in Dubai. I'm a proud dog lover myself (we have 12 dogs at home) so I know how he feels that's why I'm doing this for him (not to mention that I also love Vince to pieces).

Weʼre helping Vince to raise £2,000 to rescue the two disabled puppies that he found and rescued in Dubai and to bring them home to England to live with him.

I hope you guys would also be able to help him. I donated already and I'm planning to donate some more. Click here to make a donation, too.

The photos above and below show Vince with his dogs. It seems like there are 3 of them but the 2 disabled dogs are the ones that he wants to bring to England.

Here's a message from Vince:

Last year I moved to Dubai and during my time there I rescued a bunch of dogs that had been abandoned. We found homes for most of the dogs we rescued, but two of the babies have disabled legs. So no one wanted Birdy or Onyx, so I took them in to have a for ever home.

Due to unforeseen and super bad circumstances I had to leave Dubai and leave the two disabled babies with someone there to care for them. Who has told me they can no longer do this anymore.

Which has left me in a position where I need to re rescue the dogs, fly them to England and give them a home.

Normally I would never ask for help with personal things, but as it's for the puppies im putting pride to one side and if anyone can help me, to get the fur babies to safety, that would be more appreciated than words can say.

Thank you.

Thanks everyone in advance for your help.

Who is that "gay" I see staring straight back at me...?

Why is my reflection someone I don't know?

Must I pretend that I'm someone else for all time?

When will my reflection show...who I am inside?
