Bullies come in all forms and sizes. And ages.
I bought this pair of Puma rubber shoes at a DFO superstore in Melbourne, Australia for only AUD 30 last year. Yes. It was on sale. 70% off.
While I was at Legaspi Active Park a few days ago, 2 kids (boys) who were playing there approached me and took notice of my rubber shoes. "Why is his shoes pink?", one of them said and they both started giggling. I knew where that was gonna lead to so I just chose to ignore them and focused on finishing my routine instead. I'm used to this (people making fun of me because I'm different, etc.), I told myself. But then this one guy stepped forward and spoke to those kids. "Can you just go away?", he told them.
When I finished, I stood up and told the guy the that it's fine and that I was used to it already. But deep inside I felt happy that there's still a guy in this world who stood up for me and made me feel safe to be with his company. Not that I needed anyone to stand up or fight for me, of course. I know I have a strong personality and I also know how to protect myself. But as time went by, I somehow learned to ignore stuff like this and just moved on with my life. Like I always say, I just LIVE.
But to that guy, you know who you are, I just wanna say...thank you. I'm happy to have you as my friend.
