Protect chimpanzees - "WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES"

20th Century Fox Partners with the Jane Goodall Institute to Aid in Rehabilitation of Chimpanzees in Honor of “War for the Planet of the Apes”

In honor of the upcoming release of War for the Planet of the Apes, 20th Century Fox has partnered with the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) to provide care for rescued chimpanzees, many of whom are victims of the illegal commercial bushmeat and pet trades. Housed and cared for on three forested island sanctuary sites and a mainland sanctuary site at the Institute’s Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center in Republic of Congo, nearly 150 chimpanzees will benefit from this partnership.

“I think that the Planet of the Apes series makes people think about the apes and perhaps our relationship to them,” says Dr. Jane Goodall. “And anything that makes us think about our own humanity in relation to the rest of the animal kingdom is important. So I think the series has helped”.

“It is an honor and a privilege to partner with the Jane Goodall Institute in providing needed care for our closest living animal relatives,” said the film’s director Matt Reeves. “Over the course of filming Caesar’s cinematic journey, it’s fascinated me to learn so much about apes and chimpanzees, these amazing sentient animals who organize, strategize and even socialize in much the same way as humans. Our hope is this reimagined Apes franchise will spark a fresh awareness, compassion and respect for these majestic species for generations to come.”

The island sites where many of these chimpanzees now live, not only provide a partial return to the kind of habitat from which they were stolen, but also the opportunity to build strong, dynamic social communities together in the wild - a true second chance. Just as the apes in the film franchise work together to establish their own community, the chimpanzees who live at Tchimpounga are building their own communities. Many of them are not family members, and so through observation and rigorous personality research the Institute’s staff pairs chimpanzees they believe will thrive together in their new communities within the sanctuary.

“One of the main threats to great apes is hunting and wildlife trafficking. Many of the chimpanzees rescued by JGI were orphaned to be taken as pets or for “roadside attractions,” said Dr. Carlos Drews, the Institute’s executive director. “While use of great apes in entertainment may be diminishing in some regions, it is increasing in others. Not only is there no need to use chimpanzees and other great apes in entertainment, but it is a moral imperative to find alternatives. With films like War for the Planet of the Apes using effective and magnificent human actor performance capture and computer generated imagery, it demonstrates to the world a better way forward for chimps and all animals.”

As a token of gratitude for this partnership, the Institute has named the housing on Tchindzoulou island, the largest of the three island sanctuary sites, after War for the Planet of the Apes’ hero chimpanzee, Caesar.

In “War for the Planet of the Apes,” the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.

“War for the Planet of the Apes” opens July 12 in (Phils.) cinemas nationwide from 20th Century to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Male Model Spotlight: Charles Aquino for Lonliwen Photography (Caution: HOT!!!)

They say you've already made it as a model if you've got the chance to work with "the" Lon Liwen and God knows how much I love this photographer's work. He's like one of my most favorite photographers in the world.

I blogged about his collaboration before with Brazilian male model Luciano Stranghetti and my forever love (Teehee!) Heydar Hosseini and they were just so more than superb.

And right now, there's this male model who got to work with Lon Liwen and he also caught my eye as well. And he's very Filipino this time. And he's very hot. He's very handsome. His sex appeal is like oozing everywhere in his body. And his eyes are just to-die-for.

Everyone, let me introduce to you Charles Aquino. He's a freelance male model and he has this stare that can melt a thousand hearts. Myself included. Ahihihihi!

Again...

CAUTION: HOT!!!

Photos from Lonliwen Photography.

I choose to comment on this photo in silence. LOLZ! But, yeah, I love his tattoos. Look at those. Look. At. Those.
Look at how defined his abs are. His body is just perfect. And his chinito eyes compliment the shape of his face really magnificently. I'm at awe right now.

I'll be posting some more photos of Charles Aquino in the coming weeks. Or probably even days. I promise.

I wish you all the best in your modeling career, Charles!

Mindaugas Grazys (MG) for Folded & Hung (F&H)

I'm really very much fascinated by Mindaugas Grazys (MG) because he's just so nice to look at. I mean...he looks young, funny, full of life. He's handsome and his jawline shouts perfection.

And I think it's also because he reminds me so much of one of my crushes, Cliff Ho. Teehee!

Anyhow, here are MG's photos from his latest campaign with Folded and Hung. And for me, he looks so amazing in these photos.

Way to go, MG!

That look, though....

Gahd...he's so handsome!

Love me like you do....

I just had the weirdest dream ever. 😳😳😳 And it was cut short.

It was raining and there's this tall, blonde guy I was saying goodbye to. Short hair. I couldn't quite picture his face at first so I initially couldn't recognize if he's someone I know in real life or not.

"So this is goodbye," I said.

"Yeah, bye VinVin." He smiled.

"Bye...." I smiled back.

I hugged him and that gesture kinda caught him off guard. My eyes were closed. He didn't hug me back. He just tapped my back instead.

I opened my eyes and turned to him and looked him in the eye. His eyes were blue. I looked down and picked up my Longchamp bag on the floor (yeah my dream was that vivid) and then I headed to the elevator as it opened behind me.

I stepped inside the elevator. It was empty. The "G" button was already illuminated.

My eyes were fixated on the floor. I tried not to look at him anymore as tears were already forming around my eyes. But deep inside I was somewhat fighting the urge to have that one last look at him. And so I did. I looked up and I saw his face. I could recognize him already. And that's when the tears finally started to fall. He looked startled so I just stifled a laugh and faked a smile as the elevator doors closed between us.

I got out of the building as fast as I could. Rain started to pour heavily this time. My knees were trembling (and weird enough I also quite couldn't feel my legs for a quick bit when I woke up). My car was just parked nearby. I knew it was just a dream because my car was a white Mercedes SUV and not Clint, my silver Montero. 😅😅😅

I fondled for my keys inside my bag but my thoughts were all over the place.

That's when I started to break down and just cried my heart out.

And then I heard someone call my name.

"VinVin!"

I looked to the direction of the voice. I wiped my face with my hands and patted my wet hair to one side to see who it was.

It was him.

He ran towards me and then all of a sudden....

All of a sudden....

He put his arms on my shoulders and then he kissed me. 😮😮😮

And then I heard this very loud music playing on the background. So loud that I felt like I was in a climactic scene of a movie. It was the chorus of my most fave song in the world.

It was Ellie Goulding's "Love Me Like You Do." Yeah, my dream can't get any weirder than that.

"Love me like you do...la...la...love me like you do...."

And then I woke up. The chorus of the song was still playing.

"Love me like you do...la...la...love me like you do...."

And then I realized that it was my phone's alarm telling me that it's already 4 AM. And, yeah, "Love Me Like You Do" is my alarm every morning.

My road to 77 kg with ACE personal trainer Coach Dominic Samoisette (Coach Domi)

Starting today, I'll be chronicling my road to 77 kg with my fitness trainer, Coach Dominic Samoisette. That's our target weight for myself.

Yes, he is my fitness coach and he's beyond amazing!

Because I finally reached 94 kg!!!

For a person like me, it's really a tremendous achievement IMO. But I'm not stopping here. There's still a long way to go for me before I reach 77 kg, My target is still to lose close to or exactly a kilo every week. And, so far, I believe I'm doing a great job. Thanks also to my trainer, of course.

This was last week.

My trainer actually commended me the other night.

Trainer: "VinVin, you're so flexible. You're like Buddha."

Me: "Buddha is fat."

Trainer: "No, you're flexible like Buddha."

Me: "But Buddha is fat."

Trainer: "Buddha is...enlightening."

Me: "And he is fat."

Trainer: ....

Me: ....

Trainer: "I'm sorry, VinVin, that's not what I meant...."

Me: "Oh, gahd, I was just teasing you. I was just joking. You're always so serious." 😅😅😅

I seriously need to find a balance between my sense of humor and my audience's. 😂😂😂

This was 2 weeks ago.

Kidding aside, like I said earlier, I've finally reached the 94 kg mark. I lost another kilo again since last week and approximately 4 kilos since I got back from Pico De Loro (I'll talk about my pico De Loro trip next time and one of my major takeaways from that trip is that I gained 4 kg during my 3-day stay there! LOLZ!).

I feel lighter now and my breathing has also improved. Not to mention that most of my pants (including the one I'm wearing in this photo) have started to fit loosely. Coach Domi has also started giving me a much more rigorous training since last week. So help me God. 😅😅😅✌✌✌

One time, I was at BDO when one of the account officers there blurted out, "Sir, sorry, I must say this lang but you're pumapayat (losing weight) talaga." I looked her in the eye to mentally tell her that I was displeased as a customer when she called me "sir." LOLZ! I smiled at her and then afterwards she asked me if I had been going to the gym, etc. She's not my mum so I don't need to tell her that I'm doing zumba. LOL. I told her that it's proper diet and exercise and that I have a #trainer who helps me achieve my #fitness goals, blah blah. In my mind, I was like thinking if I should bring my trainer to that branch one time to teach them how to still be physically fit while being stuck on their chairs 12 hours a day. Oh, wait, they might freak out when they see him. LOL.

And then I had a meeting that same morning and our department head was like, "Vin, you're such an inspiration. Ang laki na ng na-lose mo." And I was like, "Stress lang po." 😅😅😅 And then she said, "No, I see you working out kaya...." I was like...she "saw" me? Working out? I didn't say anything anymore. I just smiled at her because we might start talking about things that the other people in that meeting aren't supposed to hear.

And then when I was at the elevator going down for my everyday lunch time walk, I chanced upon a friend from another department and he was like....

"Vin, grabe, so payat."

"Awww...thanks teh."

"Inspired? In love?"

"Grabe ka 'teh...."

3 compliments in half a day. Thank you, Coach Domi! My efforts are getting recognized.

My fitness trainer Coach Domi looking so happy because of the results of our fitness program. Teehee!

So...if you also have the same goals as I do, and if you need a qualified trainer to achieve these goals, why not drop Coach Domi an email?

Contact him at samoisette.dominic@gmail.com and follow him on Instagram @dominicsamoisette for his regular fitness tips and videos.

'Til my next update!

Thanks for everything, Coach Domi.

Choosing between the boyish-looking Tony Fabian's "Sweet Musk" and "Fresh Musk"

But when it comes to Tony Fabian, I definitely needn't think twice anymore. I'd choose him in a jiffy over anyone else. CHOZ!

Anyhow, lemme introduce to you these two scents by Tony Fabian. I'm not much of a perfume person but I feel like I wanna try this Sweet Musk over here. Just because I'm sweet, too. LOLZ!

NOTE: Please concentrate on the perfumes. Teehee!

"Sweet Musk is a new unisex sweet, creamy and powerful yet subtle fragrance that would linger throughout the day."
I was not able to get a description of the Fresh Musk but I believe this is the more popular one. Again, please concentrate on the perfume, ok? It's the perfume that I'm featuring here, not anything else.
But, ok, fine. I still couldn't get enough of Tony Fabian actually. He's just so cute! I mean...look at him.
Doesn't he remind you of your high school or college crush back in the day?
Ahihihihi! Definitely!

For orders, like Fragrance Bomb on Facebook or click here.

I felt discriminated at Nick's Seafood Restaurant (Darling Harbour, Sydney, Australia)

Before we proceed to the bad part, lemme first show you the beautiful Darling Harbour at night.

My friend took me here one time because she wanted me to see Darling Harbour at night. She said it's magnificent and, damn, she wasn't wrong.

My photos probably are not giving this beautiful place any justice. Sorry.
The night was a bit cold and there were a number of people around but it wasn't at all that crowded. It was just right. There were some couples walking around the area, too. One day, I'll go back here...with a boyfriend. CHOZ!
I also told my friend that I love seafood so much that's why she took me here. She suggested we try Nick's Seafood Restaurant and so we did.
I knew something was already wrong the moment we got there. We weren't attended to right away even though there weren't that much people inside, yet. We waited for someone to show us our table and when no one did, I just approached one vacant table and sat there. My friend told me that it was still a bit early for dinner that's why people hadn't started to come in yet.
We asked for the menu and it was immediately given to us. The waiter, a guy who seemed like in his late 30's or early 40's, told us to just call him when we're ready to order and then he sped off. My friend and I looked at each other and I was like, "Maybe he's busy." The moment I opened the menu, I already knew what I wanted: their seafood pasta. My friend, on the other hand, picked a fish I couldn't remember what. LOLZ! Perhaps a dory.
This is my friend, by the way. Teehee!
Moments later, when we were ready to give our orders, we saw again that same guy assisting a "rich-looking white couple" to their table. He also helped the guy take off his jacket too. He gave them the menus and somewhat explained to them what was inside. He was all "chummy-chums" with them, something that he wasn't when he was with us. You know what I mean.
And that was my pasta. It didn't look nice but it tasted good enough. Or maybe I just kinda already lost my appetite when I saw how that guy treated that other couple versus how he treated us. I looked at my friend and she immediately knew what I was gonna say. She said that she also felt it and that she's used to it. But she assured me that not all Aussies are like him, something that I could also vouch for. I once dated an Aussie guy before. Teehee!

But deep inside I was like, "Gago, 'tong lalaking 'to, ah. Mayaman ako sa Pinas. Ulol."

Just kidding! LOLZ!

Anyway, that's all for now.

Who is that "gay" I see staring straight back at me...?

Why is my reflection someone I don't know?

Must I pretend that I'm someone else for all time?

When will my reflection show...who I am inside?
