Gadgets that save the world in “KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE”

GADGETS THAT SAVE THE WORLD IN “KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE”

Every hero is only as strong as their villain, of course. And in the latest “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” that conflict comes from the introduction of Poppy Adams (Julianne Moore), a drug dealer who, as head of the mysterious Golden Circle criminal enterprise, sets in place a nefarious plan that sets her on a collision course with Eggsy (Taron Egerton). For director Matt Vaughn, the villain’s plot was of paramount importance – and to stop the ultimate heinous threat, the Kingsman are equipped with gadgets customized for the unrelenting explosive battle to save the world.

“Kingsman: The Golden Circle” won’t skimp on that patented Kingsman craziness, though, from an opening car chase in which Eggsy has to fight for his life in a Kingsman cab hurtling across London, to an all-out assault on Poppyland, and a barroom brawl which deliberately recalls the pub fight sequence from the first movie. “The fights are even more crazy,” says Egerton. “But in terms of the setpieces, Matthew has tried to do different things. There’s a sequence in the movie that has that hyper, one-shot feel, but you can’t top the church scene. He’d rather move on and find something new.”

After the attack and the Kingsman headquarters turned into ruins, Eggsy teams up with Merlin (Mark Strong) — who appears to be the only other survivor — to investigate the circumstances behind it. The Kingsman’s ‘Doomsday Protocal’ leads them to Kentucky, where they discover that Kingsman isn’t the only name in international espionage. Welcome to the lavishly-funded all-American organisation, Statesman.

Where there’s a Kingsman, there’s always a reliable gadget hidden or worn, here are some of their awesome gadgets used in saving the world:

· The agent’s hidden weapon, the Kingsman agent frames are handcrafted by Cutler and Gross, the finest purveyors in British luxury eyewear.

· The customised Kingsman pistol is the standard issue Sidearm for all Kingsman agents.

· The Kingsman Pen, is a classic fountain pen, as used by Sir Winston Churchill and made by Conway Stewart, the esteemed British firm.

· Kingsman Signet Ring is a symbol of tradition – when pressed with the back of the thumb, the ring emits a 50,000 volt shock, stunning an enemy.

· Kingsman Briefcase functions both as a collapsible shield RPG Missile Launcher and fully automatic machine gun, the Kingsman briefcase is a key feature in the modern gentleman’s armour.

· Kingsman Gold Lighter is both a symbol of innovation with its timeless design, and a sophisticated agent weapon, a touch-activated hand grenade.

· The black leather Oxford shoes are an embodiment of quintessentially British style, worn by all Kingsman agents.

· Kingsman watch – crafted by Swiss watchmakers, TAG Heuer, globally renowned for their rich heritage in creating classic gentleman’s timepieces – the Kingsman Connected Watch is a stylish and perceptive agent accessory.

· Kingsman Aftershave – created with core notes to strike a reactive note of danger, the Kingsman aftershave acts both as an alluring, sophisticated fragrance and a flash grenade, with surprising capabilities.

“Kingsman: The Golden Circle” opens September 20 in cinemas from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros. Also available in IMAX format.

Julianne Moore is good at being bad in “KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE”

JULIANNE MOORE IS GOOD AT BEING BAD IN “KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE”

Academy award-winning actress Julianne Moore is at her best in being bad as the new villain in “Kingsman: The Golden Circle”, sequel to the worldwide hit and unparalleled spy action movie “Kingsman: The Secret Service”.

Returning to direct is Matthew Vaughn along with original cast Colin Firth, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong and Sophie Cookson, “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” also features new cast members Halle Berry, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal and Jeff Bridges. This time, the headquarters are destroyed by a mysterious crime syndicate, and Eggsy must enlist the help of their larger-than-life counterparts, Statesman, to track down the psychopathic villain behind the attack.

A guaranteed and spectacular entertainment, the movie packs a subversively funny, stylish and unique action event that expands the Kingsman universe in the most unexpected ways. For Matthew Vaughn, a good villain is essential to the success of a Kingsman movie. And after raising the bar with Samuel L. Jackson’s loud, lisping Richmond Valentine in the first movie, Vaughn was determined to come up with another character audiences would love to see being good at being bad.

Enter Poppy Adams in “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” an exiled American crime lord now living in her own personal theme park, Poppyland, found in the wilds of Cambodia. And to play this larger-than-life lunatic, whose grand plans for the world bring her into direct conflict with Kingsman and the Statesman, Vaughn turned to the wonderful Julianne Moore. Long considered one of the world’s greatest actors, Moore is endlessly watchable and incredibly versatile, notching up an array of stunning performances in the likes of “Boogie Nights,” “Magnolia,” the “Hunger Games” series,” The Lost World: Jurassic Park” and “Still Alice,” the movie for which she finally won a long overdue Best Actress Oscar.

Moore shares her thoughts on her outrageous character in the movie, “No matter how outrageous her antics are, they’re normal in her world. She’s the only character in her world, so she doesn’t know. She’s a megalomaniac in the way that all great villains are. One movie I loved so much growing up as a kid was the original Superman… watching Gene Hackman play Lex Luthor alongside his girlfriend sidekick, they were so funny and so real, but also true villains. That’s a tone I thought of a lot when I was making this.”

Opening nationwide on September 20 in Philippine cinemas, “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” is from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros. Also available in IMAX screens nationwide.

Narcos' Pedro Pascal whips new game in big screen role - “KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE”

NARCOS’ PEDRO PASCAL WHIPS NEW GAME IN BIG SCREEN ROLE - “KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE”

“Game of Thrones” and “Narcos”’ notable star Pedro Pascal stars in the upcoming theatrical release of “Kingsman: The Golden Circle”, sequel to the blockbuster action “Kingsman: The Secret Service” that reinvented and introduced the world to a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program.

Back in their lead roles as part of the Kingsman organization are Taron Egerton, Colin Firth, Mark Strong and Sophie Cookson with new cast members Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, Pedro Pascal and Jeff Bridges who belong to the Statesman, the counterpart of Kingsman in the United States.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn, “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” sees our heroes face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US called Statesman, dating back to the day they were both founded. In a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that’s becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy.

Pedro Pascal has been making a big impact on the small screen over the last couple of years, with an eye-catching turn in Netflix’s series, “Narcos” (now on its 3rd season) and an eye-gouging performance as Oberyn Martell in HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” And now the talented Chilean-born American actor is making an impact on the big screen with the pivotal role of Statesman’s Agent Whiskey in Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

“As Agent Whiskey in the Statesman agency, which is the US equivalent of Kingsman. The way Kingsman exists in the first movie, as a heightened cultural representation, is exactly the same for Statesman. They’re under the guise of a tailor shop; we’re under the guise of a distillery. Our agent names are based on liquors. I’m Whiskey, Channing Tatum is Tequila, Jeff Bridges is Champ for champagne, and Halle Berry is Ginger Ale. We’re cowboys,” says Pascal of his latest role.

“Kingsman: The Golden Circle” opens September 20 in Philippine cinemas from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

“KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE” character posters roll-out

“KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE” CHARACTER POSTERS ROLL-OUT

The suave, sophisticated and impeccably attired spies are back in “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” starring returning cast members Colin Firth, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Hannah Alstrőm, Sophie Cookson joined by new cast that includes Jeff Bridges, Halle Berry, Channing Tatum, Julianne Moore and Elton John.

The concept for Kingsman was born when Vaughn was working with Mark Millar, the comic book author, on set for “Kick-Ass” back in 2009. Both huge James Bond fans, they came up with the idea about an elite spy that resulted in the franchise’s first worldwide hit. Kingsman is an elite organization of operatives working outside of the government. Martial in style, they are an altruistic unit that gets things done.

This year’s hotly anticipated sequel, “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” raises the stakes from the worldwide surprise hit original film “Kingsman: The Secret Service” where the spy agency now suffers from a devastating attack that almost killed all of its members. After the attack, the surviving members of the Kingsman organization forms alliance with their United States counterpart, the Statesman to stop a common enemy.

In “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” Eggsy (Egerton) together with Merlin (Strong) and survivor Harry Hart (Firth) travel to America to meet the Statesman – leader Champagne (Bridges), Tequila (Tatum), Ginger Ale (Berry) and recruit them to help them save the world but the spies have seemingly created an enemy in Poppy (Moore), an charming terrorist who takes pleasure in world domination.

Check out the latest character posters released for “Kingsman: The Golden Circle.” The movie will open September 20 in (Phils.) cinemas nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Ayala Malls Cinemas' exclusive: “A FAMILY MAN” starring Gerard Butler in Greenbelt 1 and Trinoma cinemas

AYALA MALLS CINEMAS’ EXCLUSIVE: “A FAMILY MAN” STARRING GERARD BUTLER IN GREENBELT 1 AND TRINOMA CINEMAS

Ayala Malls Cinemas exclusively brings Gerard Butler’s latest movie “A Family Man” starting August 23 in Greenbelt 1 and Trinoma.

“A Family Man” is Gerard Butler’s latest passion piece directed by Mark Williams who is also an accomplished producer behind acclaimed features such as Ben Affleck’s “The Accountant” and Netflix’s “Ozark.”

Known for his blockbuster iconic action roles in “300”, “London Has Fallen”, “Olympus Has Fallen” and voice in “How to Train Your Dragon”, Butler plays Dane Jensen in “A Family Man,” a driven Chicago-based headhunter, working at a cut-throat job placement firm. When Dane's boss (Willem Dafoe) announces his retirement, he pits Dane against Lynn Wilson (Alison Brie), Dane's equally driven but polar-opposite rival at the firm, in a battle for control over the company. As Dane gears up for the professional battle of his life, he learns his 10-year-old son Ryan (Max Jenkins) is diagnosed with an illness. Suddenly, Dane is pulled between achieving his professional dream and his family, who need him now more than ever.

Assembling the strong supporting cast for the movie included frequent award-winners Willem Dafoe and Alfred Molina who were respectively cast as Dane’s ruthless but retiring manager at the recruitment firm and as an aging out-of-work engineer, each of whom challenge headhunter Dane Jensen in unpredictable ways. Alison Brie was a perfect match to Gerald as Dane’s rival, being herself “smart, beautiful, confident and charming all in one,” producer Craig Flores described. Gretchen Mol rounded out the deep bench of talent as Dane’s wife, Elise.

But the most difficult role to cast was the character of Dane Jensen’s son, Ryan. Dane’s journey is predominantly framed through his relationship with Ryan, which is constantly transforming over the course of the film. Craig described the wide search that went into Ryan’s casting: “We reviewed hundreds of self-tapes and auditions from all around the world to find the right kid. Very tough decisions were made, but we ultimately discovered that Max Jenkins was born to play the role.”

An Ayala Malls Cinemas exclusive, “A Family Man” opens in Greenbelt 1 and Trinoma today August 23. Check www.sureseats.com for schedule and ticket purchase.

Man and apes' final face-off in “WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES” on July 12 (Phils.)

MAN AND APES’ FINAL FACE-OFF IN “WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES” ON JULY 12 (PHILS.)

The last trailer reveal of “War for the Planet of the Apes” sees two legendary leaders Caesar (performed in motion capture by Andy Serkis) and the Colonel (Woody Harrelson) face each other off to protect their own species from extinction.

Reaching fever-pitch in anticipation as reflected in global indicator such as www.rottentomatoes.com, the movie has so far scored a 98% high in the want-to-see meter and enjoys a 96% high on the critics’ corner stating that the movie combines breathtaking special effects and a powerful, poignant narrative that concludes the blockbuster trilogy. Meanwhile, on the local scene at www.clickthecity.com, “War for the Planet of the Apes” enjoys a full 5-star Users’ Rating on the said online portal.

Breathless action, big ideas and potent storytelling combine as “War For the Planet of the Apes”, the third and final chapter in the trilogy pushes the blockbuster series into new realms of legend-building as it explores the values that forge a civilization. It all comes to life driven by the most complex and intense performance by Andy Serkis yet as the majestic Caesar, and groundbreaking visual effects from Weta Digital. Also returning to the series is Karin Konoval as Caesar’s trusted advisor, Maurice, Terry Notary as Caesar’s right-hand man, Rocket, as well as Judy Greer as Caesar’s wife Cornelia and Toby Kebbell as Koba.

Unforgettable new characters include two-time Oscar® nominee Woody Harrelson as the Colonel, the brash human soldier who believes only an apocalyptic war can salvage the last vestiges of humankind; Steve Zahn as Bad Ape, a lonely chimp who brings heart and humor to the apes in their darkest hour; Amiah Miller as Nova, the human child who becomes an unexpected link between the apes and humanity; Aleks Paunovic as Winter, the stunning but anxious white gorilla; Michael Adamthwaite as Caesar’s gorilla lieutenant, Luca, who forges a bond with Nova; and Ty Olsson as Rex, a turncoat gorilla who works for the Colonel as his “donkey.” Featuring more apes than ever, including a dozen key characters, as the tide turns against homo sapiens, the film also for the very first time brings performance capture action into the rugged, frozen mountains and a world of snow – all captured in spectacular 65mm under the masterful eye of cinematographer Michael Seresin and set to a stirring score by Oscar® winner Michael Giacchino.

For director Matt Reeves, who returns to the franchise to take the next step after Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the large-scale ambition of the third film was clear: to follow the increasingly upright and capable – but also haunted and questioning -- apes not only into the spectacle of total warfare but into stirring psychological territory as Caesar fights to hold onto his own most humane instincts.

More than ever, Reeves realized, the trajectory of the apes mirrors the archetypal myths of humanity. “As this story starts, there is no more peace with humans, which thrusts Caesar into a deeply emotional, universal kind of conflict,” Reeves describes. “Caesar has always been unique in that he is part ape, part human, yet neither one fully. The hope has been that he might be able to bridge the two societies, but now it is clear that this will not come to pass. What’s so exciting is that in exploring Caesar’s internal dilemmas at this profound moment it becomes a chance to look at a battle we all know: the war between our intelligence, our empathy and our instinctiveness, and how that forms what defines our humanity. At the same time as this is a very dark journey, it is also a story with so much spirit in it.”

“War for the Planet of the Apes” opens July 12 (Phils.) nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Young actress Amiah Miller plays pivotal role in “WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES”

YOUNG ACTRESS AMIAH MILLER PLAYS PIVOTAL ROLE IN “WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES”

One of the most surprising characters in the highly-anticipated “War For The Planet of the Apes” is not an ape or a man … but a little girl with breathtaking courage. Amiah Miller, in her first major role plays a mute, virus-ravaged human child who comes to be known as Nova – and becomes an essential part of the apes’ journey to their new home.

“War for the Planet of the Apes” is set fifteen years after a scientific experiment had gone wrong that gave rise to the intelligent Apes and almost wiped out the human race. The colonists and apes struggled to coexist but their fragile peace was shattered and Caesar (played by Andy Serkis), leader of the apes, attempted to restore order. But there was no turning back from the brutal fighting that has already begun.

At heart, this is the story of both a military and emotional last stand. As peace between species has collapsed -- and a renegade band of human soldiers led by an imperious Colonel (Woody Harrelson) makes a final, all-out attack -- Caesar is hit with an unimaginable personal loss and a dark line inside his psyche is crossed. Now, he is wrestling with merciless impulses and roiling doubts about his own ability to inspire the apes towards freedom. But if the apes are to survive the coming conflict, Caesar must lead. In a time when empathy and compassion have nearly vanished both in the world and his heart, Caesar searches for the grit, sense of fellowship and striving vision to lead the apes towards a future of hope.

The enchanted quality of new character, Nova, did not escape director Matt Reeves and scribe Mark Bomback. Bomback says, “Here is a little, seemingly orphaned girl living with apes – Matt and I immediately thought she seemed like a character out of a fairytale. From Goldilocks to Little Red Riding Hood, there’s a whole tradition of stories about little girls in the woods with dangerous animals who nevertheless become their protectors. That’s part of the inspiration for Nova. And the name Nova of course is a bit of an Easter egg from the original film.”

“One of the beautiful things about Nova is that even in this divided world, you see there are apes and humans who are able to form deep emotional relationships,” says Peter Chernin. “In that moment when Caesar is in the darkest place, when he wants to hate all humans, Nova touches him in a way no one else can. In Nova, we’re also seeing the growth of the Simian Virus and what survival means to humans.”

Taking the part, an especially demanding and complex one for a child actor, is 12 year-old Amiah Miller in her first major feature. Reeves describes how Miller won the role: “Amiah is such an intuitive young actor. When she came in to audition we threw away the script and I just asked her to relate to the apes. It was clear right then that she was special and had a talent way beyond her years. She and the actors became like a family. She has a bright future ahead of her, I can't wait to see what she does.”

Because Nova develops a strong bond with the orangutan Maurice, who insists on bringing her on the apes’ long journey, Miller spent a month working with Karin Konoval, who plays Maurice. “Amiah and I needed to have a very strong, very real connection,” says Konoval. “So Amiah and I actually got to know each other wordlessly as Maurice and Nova before we even had any conversations. Luckily, our connection was immediate and organic and it only grew from there. It was absolutely magic that the filmmakers gave us that opportunity to develop this true bond.”

Says producer Dylan Clark: “Matt, our casting director Deb Zane and I were all in agreement that there was only one young actor to bring in for the role of Nova and it was Amiah.”

“War for the Planet of the Apes” opens July 12 in cinemas nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Who is that "gay" I see staring straight back at me...?

Why is my reflection someone I don't know?

Must I pretend that I'm someone else for all time?

When will my reflection show...who I am inside?
