Inviting all Filipinos to follow Hillarie's journey in MISS WORLD

Message from Hillarie:

Mabuhay! Ni Hao! Hello Philippines, Hello World!!! I, Hillarie Danielle Ang Parungao, a 24 year old Nursing graduate and a professional model from Solano, Nueva Vizcaya was chosen as Miss World Philippines 2015 and won the right to represent the Philippines in the 65th edition of the Miss World pageant LIVE on December 19th from the Beauty Crown Grand Theatre, Sanya, People’s Republic of China.

In 2015, I founded “Katuwang (Partner in English)” a program aimed at alleviating childhood mortality. Through this initiative, I aim to create awareness on the issues and challenges affecting families from getting access to quality and affordable healthcare in my province and hopefully in the entire country. Using my platform as a titleholder, I plan to lobby members of local government units to jumpstart a campaign that would save countless numbers of young lives and enable them to live a full healthy life.

And as I embark on this journey, I would like to encourage the Filipino media and all of my countrymen to have another look on what Miss World is truly all about so we can rally all the troops and get everyone to support Miss World and Beauty with a Purpose.

Maraming Salamat. Xièxiè. Thank you.

Let's all support, Hillarie! I can feel it. We'll have the crown again this year.

About beauty with a purpose

Beyond the glitz and glamour, the Miss World Organization has prided itself for its ‘Beauty With A Purpose’ program, which has raised close to half a billion dollars for charity, placing it on the forefront of social responsibility. Every year, the Miss World winner travels thousands of miles to locations like Haiti, where a clean water initiative has been mobilized. In Ethiopia, for instance, the pageant pioneered the move to alleviate maternal mortality. In the Philippines, Megan Young, first Filipina winner, have helped fund millions of Typhoon Haiyan victims. Who is that "gay" I see staring straight back at me...?

Why is my reflection someone I don't know?

Must I pretend that I'm someone else for all time?

When will my reflection show...who I am inside?
