My thoughts on Miley Cyrus and her vulgar, scandalous VMA performance

Not that my views matter, but...here you go....

There have been so many negative comments and reactions as regards Miley Cyrus' scandalous VMA performance. I admit I also felt appalled when I first saw her performance. It's really very vulgar and unbecoming of a young woman with a public image as powerful as hers.

But let's also try to look at the other underlying factors as to why she did that. She wanted attention? Maybe yes. Is she gonna be the next 2007 version of Britney Spears? Maybe yes again. But just come to think of it: all these could actually be just part of a marketing ploy of Miley's management. Such a big and bold feat for them to take, yes, but, seriously and obviously it all paid off.

Negative publicity is still publicity and as far as Miley is concerned, the kind of publicity that she got out of this wasn't just qualitative but more so quantifiable. The number of tweets about her and her performance. Her songs debuting and skyrocketing to the top of the iTunes charts (2 songs belonging to the top 5).

Plus, remember, Miley's management is also packaging her as a "grown" person now. Not "grown up" but "grown." In fact, if what I heard is correct, her next album is actually a really more mature version of Miley. That VMA performance indeed titillated the people's attention and everything else that followed was directed towards her.

So, regardless if Miley didn't win anything in this year's VMAs, who do you think garnered the most benefits out of all of this? The winners? Relatively. But collectively and massively, it's obviously "smiley" Miley. And, yes, her management as well. But, again, that's just me.

Though, still, gosh, the girl really needs some "proper" guidance. One Lady Gaga is enough in this world.

Who is that "gay" I see staring straight back at me...?

Why is my reflection someone I don't know?

Must I pretend that I'm someone else for all time?

When will my reflection show...who I am inside?
