"Kuliglig & Pedicab drivers MODUS in Divisoria-BEWARE!"

December 22, 2011

I got this from Al of Pasay City. Just sharing.

Hi VinVin,

Good day! I just want to share something about the MODUS OPERANDI of the Kuliglig & Pedicab drivers that’s been victimizing along Divisoria as I had terribly experience it again just last Saturday (Dec. 17) around 11pm.

*First experience – It was December last year when my friend and I went to 168 Mall in Divisoria to buy gifts for Christmas. A lot of people were also shopping and we ended up almost 1pm. We walked along Recto avenue to look for a jeepney going home. Since it was so traffic that day, I told Lester that I’ll just get a pedicab going to LRT station to avoid delay. We waited for a couple of minutes and I saw this strange middle-aged guy. I asked him how much was the fare going to the nearest LRT station. Then he replied “ISA BENTE”. But I told him that I’m just along since Lester will take a ride in a jeepney. He repeatedly said “SIGE BENTE” lang. Since I wasn’t familiar with the place, inikot-ikot nya ako and we passed by along this squatter area. While I was riding on his pedicab, I looked at him, he was very fast, sweating and struggling to driver as the sun was so hot. So parang nakonsensya naman ako if I would just pay him 20 pesos. I told myself na, I’ll just give him 50 pesos since I felt pity for him. Finally I saw the LRT 1 train but he dropped me off sa kabilang kanto ng BAMBANG station. I gave him 50 pesos then he immediately complained sarcastically at sabi nya “120 pesos” daw bayad. I got confused kasi usapan namin 20 pesos lng bayad at ni-remind ko sya na sabi nya knina “ISA BENTE”. Eh kung ganun kamahal pala e di sana nagtaxi na lng ako may aircon pa, daig pa nya may metro pedicab nya. He got mad and his gesture changed na parang “sabog sa droga”. I saw his eyes, namumula at parang nanakot na ang mukha. My heart striked fast and I got scared, really. So to stop him, I just gave 70 pesos and I argued with him ,“ ni hindi mo nga ako hinatid sa station mismo ng LRT eh”. I don’t know if it was a knife or anything that would threaten or harm me. Nag iisip ako ng paraan if how can I ask for help. Sisigaw ba ako or ttakbo pero I was so helpless that time. Thank God I went home safe.

*Second experience – I was with my sister and bro-in law when we went to Divisoria last Saturday (Dec. 17). We parked along avenida. It was raining and almost 9pm. While walking along National Book Store in Avenida I noticed this guy with his pedicab. Seems like he was looking for a pasahero. I took a glance of his face and I found out that he was the strange guy I had terrible experience before in Divisoria. I told my bro in law about the guy I said we shouldn’t get into his pedicab. Then we got a pedicab and surprisingly the guy was kind enough to get the reasonable fare of 60 pesos for the 3 of us just to drop off in 168 mall. We shopped a lot and ended up almost 12am. We waited to get a pedicab along Recto avenue. We walked for few minutes and asked the young guy seated on a pedicab but the driver wasn’t there so we looked for another one. Surprisingly this “bigotilyo guy” approached us if we will ride on his kuliglig. I looked at the guy na parang may masamang mangyayari, nagdududa ako sa mukha nya. I warned my sister and said “ siguraduhin mo na malinaw ung usapan”. My ate asked how much was the fair then the guy said “50 lng” . My sister asked the guy again to make sure “50 kami tatlo ah” baka naman 50 isa. Nagmayabang pa sumagot ung lalake, ”50 pesos nga, ayaw nyo pa?” My sister told me to pay for the fare. I quickly grabbed my sister away from the vehicle since ung guy is parang sinasapian na ng kung anu sa reaksiyon ng mukha nya dahil sa galit. Later on, the guy went away at kumaripas ng takbo. I told her na hayaan na lng ung pera. God is really good at least nakapag isip ako ng tama bago pa may masamang nangyari sa amin lalo na sa ate ko.

I hope some action will be taken about this MODUS kasi nakakabahala eto. Beware sa mga driver na eto, make sure you have exact amount of money to pay and keep your valuables secured.

Thanks!

Who is that "gay" I see staring straight back at me...?

Why is my reflection someone I don't know?

Must I pretend that I'm someone else for all time?

When will my reflection show...who I am inside?
