I'm inviting everyone to the launching ceremony of Talahib’s debut album entitled, “Mga Awit ng Pag-ibig at Digmaan”.

Talahib is the band of my friend Jec's boyfriend.

The 70’s Bistro, 46 Anonas St., Project 2. Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines

TALAHIB, the band was formed in the event of the Payatas Tragedy Benefit Concert in 2001. It started as an acoustic folk group of tour whose artistic comfort is to promote peoples music. Those early days of Talahib has brought them to various region of the archipelago, and later exposed to traditional rhythms and harmonies of the different Philippine indigenous tribes. With such immersion, the band shaped its music by absorbing the sound of the mountains- the chants, the drumbeats and the enthralling melodies of our native instruments.

At present, Talahib has 26 compositions for almost a decade of performing people’s music.

More about Talahib:

TALAHIB (noun). English: common grass or kans grass (Saccharum spontaneum). It is common and can grow up to three meters high that dances with wind. It is soft to the eyes with flowers of a peacock’s tail. Yet, it is irritating. Its edges are sharp and can cut one’s skin unconsciously.

TALAHIB (the band). Melodic soulful harmonies of Philippine folk blend with the upbeat styles of jazz, reggae, afro-cuban, dance and rock, armed with words of love and hope, culture and heritage and social commentaries. All songs sung in native tongue as the music cuts.

Now, We want to share to you our self titled album to be released in 2011. Keep on supporting and help the world music scene be appreciated. Dance to Life!

Who is that "gay" I see staring straight back at me...?

Why is my reflection someone I don't know?

Must I pretend that I'm someone else for all time?

When will my reflection show...who I am inside?
