Do you know what the colors of our Pride Flag symbolize?

June 2, 2011

From Task Force Pride Philippines:

Do you know what the colors of our Pride Flag symbolize?

How about its history?

Well, here are some interesting facts: [source: Wiki]

+ Designed by a San Francisco artist Gilbert Baker in 1978.

+ It has been suggested that Baker was inspired by Judy Garland's singing "Over the Rainbow".

+ The original version of the flag had 8 stripes.. Pink was removed due to fabric unavailability and Turquoise was removed as when it was hung vertically on the lamp posts of San Francisco, CA, it was obscured.

+ The photo below shows what each color represents. Today, there are only 6 colors in the Pride Flag.

June 25 is RAINBOW FLAG DAY, but since we'll be celebrating Pride the whole month, we might as well start now.

Now.. Let's all say this:

I am a proud Lesbian,
I am a proud Gay,
I am a proud Bisexual,
I am a proud Transgender,

So, share your PRIDE to everyone this Pride Month of June, Make your Facebook Profile Photo a RAINBOW!

Happy Pride, Everyone!

Who is that "gay" I see staring straight back at me...?

Why is my reflection someone I don't know?

Must I pretend that I'm someone else for all time?

When will my reflection show...who I am inside?
